Irene C. (Laird) Mullen

Irene C. (Laird) Mullen, age 84, of Wilmington, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2014, at the Wilmington Health Care Center.

Born in Somerville on December 27, 1929, Irene was the cherished daughter of the late George and Agnes (Morris) Laird.  Irene and her two sisters were raised in and attended Somerville Public Schools.

Irene married William H. Spracklin and the couple moved to Melrose, where they raised their six children. Irene was remarried in 1965 and moved to North Conway, NH. in 1985 with her husband George Mullen.

In 1991, Irene moved to Deming Way in Wilmington.  As a long-time resident of Deming Way, Irene made friends with many of the neighbors.  She enjoyed spending her time with them as well as bingo and crocheting. She will truly be missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Irene was the loving mother of Stephen Spracklin and his wife Sophia of Wakefield, Elaine Scribner of Reading, William Spracklin of New Hampshire, John Spracklin and his wife Cheryl of Wilmington and the late Richard and David Spracklin of Melrose. She was the devoted grandmother of Kevin, William and Denise Scribner,  William, Christopher and Andrew Spracklin and Jennifer, Timothy and Christina Spracklin. Great-grandmother of Jude(Gabe), Odin, Jacqueline, Khloe, Timothy J. Jr., and Kaelin.  Irene was predeceased by her two sisters, Dorothy Hall of Wilmington and Eleanor Ricci of Medford. Irene is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services for Irene will be held at a later date.
