adams-johnJohn L. Adams, 78, of Windham, NH, formerly of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully, November 21, 2009, at Grace House in Windham, NH, with family at his side.

John was born on June 4, 1931, in Methuen, MA. He was the dear son of the late Charles and Josephine (King) Adams. John moved with his family to Salem, NH and was raised on the family farm. John joined the United States Air Force on November 26, 1951 during the Korean War. He was a very decorated Combat Veteran receiving many commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross for his brave and honorable service during the war. Upon returning from active service, John continued his education at Keene State College in Keene, NH, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. In later years, he earned a Masters degree in Industrial Arts education.

John married Ann Lynch in 1955 and moved to Wilmington in 1960 to raise their two children Edward and Carol. After teaching for five years at Reading High School, John continued his career as a teacher for the town of Lexington, MA, where he retired in 1991 as the Head of the Industrial Arts Department at Lexington High School after many years of dedicated service to the town and to his students. John was named Massachusetts Industrial Arts Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 1977.

John and Ann celebrated 42 years of marriage before Ann passed away in September of 1997. John married Helen C. Domigan 12 years ago. Together they have enjoyed traveling, their many friends, and dancing. They moved to Seabrook, NH, for a short time before settling in Windham, NH five years ago and spending their winters in Leesburg, Florida. In his spare time, John also enjoyed camping, golfing and tinkering; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair or build. John will be remembered as a devoted family man, dedicated teacher, hard worker, and a good friend.

John was the beloved husband of Helen C. (Domigan) Adams, devoted father of Ed Adams & his wife Fran of (Montrose, Colorado) and Carol Marston (Concord, NH). He was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren, Chris Adams (San Francisco, CA), Kelly Adams Montoya, (Ganzu, China) Katie Adams (Washington, D.C.), Andrew Marston, Rebecca Marston, Mary Marston, and Adam Marston, all of Concord, N.H. John’s first great- grandchild will be born in January 2010. He was also the step-father of Paul Domigan & his wife Susan (Andover), Susan Aylouche & her husband Mounzer (Swampscott), Ann Domigan & her husband Tom Baillie (Reading), and Tricia Domigan & her husband Don Cooke (Groton).

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 24th from 3-7 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA. Family & friends will gather for a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH, on Wednesday, November 25th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private.

Memorial donations in John’s name may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
