Albert E. Hall

May 25th, 2019
Albert E. Hall, fondly known as “Al” or “Albie” to his family and friends, of Stoneham, formerly of Wilmington, passed away on May 23, 2019, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness.  He was 74 years old.

Al was born on April 7, 1945, in Medford, MA; he was the beloved son of the late Chester H. and Dorothy (Laird) Hall.  Al was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1963. Al was known to be quite an athlete; he was an avid football player in high school and a member of the Wildcat Football Team that took the State Title in 1963 and later went on to be inducted into the Wilmington Wildcats Hall of Fame.

Al married his high school sweetheart, Janis Iovanna in 1966; the couple became parents to four wonderful daughters.  Al was a very devoted and loving husband and father; his family was his world.  When Al became a “Papa” to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren his world became even brighter.  Al cherished the time he spent with those kids and always looked forward to their visits.

Al had many hobbies; he enjoyed collecting stamps and old coins as well as dabbling in sales and bartering; he became quite a whiz on ebay.  He also enjoyed gardening and “puttering” around his house and yard.

Al will be remembered for his unconditional love and devotion for his family and friends.  He would go out of his way to do anything for anyone.  Al was a great guy who will forever be missed by all who loved him.

Al was the beloved husband of Janis E. (Iovanna) Hall, devoted father of Melissa Hall and George Jackson of North Andover, Pam Meuse & husband Steve of Methuen, Sheila Hall and Alison O’Neil both of Stoneham, loving Papa of Amanda, Matt, Clay, Nick, Adam, Samantha, Andrew, Emily, Ben, Caera and great-grandchildren Sean Patrick, Adrianna, Savannah, Stetson and Grace.  Dear brother of Bill Hall of Fitchburg, Frank Hall of Connecticut, Arthur Hall of Maine, John Hall of Wilmington, Dorothy Hall of Tewksbury, Gwen Sheehan of Dracut and the late Chester Hall.  Al is further survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, May 29th for Visitation from 2:00-6:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Service at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA  02451.
