Alice M. (Dankese) Vasquez

Alice M. (Dankese) Vasquez, age 86, of Wilmington, formerly a long-time resident of Weymouth, died peacefully on March 9, 2012, at Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Alice was born in Somerville, MA, on January 4, 1926, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Diana (Mercurio) Dankese. Alice grew up in the Fields Corner Section of Dorchester and was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1944.

Alice married her “sweetheart” Thomas Vasquez on October 9, 1949, the couple moved to Weymouth, and shared over 46 years of marriage before his passing in 1997. Alice and Tom had a wonderful life together and she dearly missed Tom these last fourteen years.

Prior to retiring, Alice worked at the First National Bank of Boston, where she was a dedicated and faithful employee.

In her spare time, Alice was very active in the Weymouth Senior Center, she loved to garden, and spend time with her family.

Alice will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, and aunt, she was very helpful to her parents, very generous of her time, and very good to her family. She will be dearly missed.

Alice was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Vasquez, dear sister of Robert Dankese and his wife Loretta of Billerica, the late Mercurio, John J., Joseph P., Helen, Anna, and Mary Dankese, sister-in-law of Sheila Dankese of Weymouth, and Lee Dankese of Newton. Alice was also the loving aunt of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, March 13th from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA. Memorial donations in Alice’s name may be made to St. Thomas of Villanova Church.
