Annmarie (Capodanno) Shepard, age 53, of Wilmington, ascended into heaven on December 10, 2014 after enduring a life altering disease, cancer.  Her passing was on her terms, in her home with her family.

Annmarie was born on January 2, 1961 in Everett, MA; she was the cherished and vibrant daughter of Ann Marie (Abbott) Capodanno and the late Raymond Capodanno.

Annmarie graduated from Nazareth Academy in Reading with the Class of 1979.  Annmarie furthered her education at Springfield College earning her Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting.

Annmarie worked as an Accounts Payable Supervisor for a Biotech Company for many years; Annmarie’s work ethic and customer service skills made her quite a success in her field.

Annmarie met “the love of her life” Jon C. Shepard, in 1977; the couple married in 1987, settled in Wilmington, and soon after had two wonderful sons Cameron and Zachary.

Family was first and foremost to Annmarie; she and her husband Jon shared a strong bond and love for each other and a love for family that they both instilled in their boy’s everyday life.  Annmarie’s greatest gift, strength and desire was as a mother and friend!  She had such unconditional love and devotion for her boys and a fierce belief in family first.  Annmarie beamed with pride as she attended countless baseball and basketball games, school functions, and musical concerts; she was their biggest fan.

Annmarie was also a very special auntie; she loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own children.  The kids could always count on Annmarie for anything they needed, especially laughter and fun which is always needed.

In her spare time, Annmarie enjoyed working in her yard, her passion for horticulture was evident by the amazing landscapes and flower gardens throughout her yard that were so beautiful they should have been featured in a magazine.

Annmarie was an avid reader; she had a voracious appetite for knowledge and belonged to various book clubs where she was able to share with others her smile, go to attitude and friendships that will last forever and has touched others lives.

Annmarie’s life will continue to be celebrated knowing that she is a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend,  Annmarie lived her life to the fullest; she showed courage and strength in the face of adversity.  Annmarie always handled herself with grace; she was quite a dynamic woman whose ability to instantly touch others lives by her will to live life will endure and be lasting for all that were fortunate enough to have known her.

Shepard, devoted mother of Cameron and Zachary Shepard all of Wilmington, cherished daughter of Ann Marie (Abbott) Capodanno and the late Raymond Capodanno of Marlborough, formerly of Wilmington, dear sister of Ray Capodanno & his wife Manuela of Marlborough, Alan Capodanno & his wife Ewa of Poland and Caramia Capodanno & her husband Jamie Shepard of Marlborough, daughter-in-law of Doris Shepard of Maynard, sister-in-law of Jocelyn Gentile & her husband Tom of Lynnfield and Jennifer Shepard of Ayer, loving aunt of Tristan and Brigitta Shepard, Sophia and Vincent Capodanno and Alex Gentile.  Annmarie was dearly loved by her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Thought of Anne-Marie today and the burden upon Jon’s heart and all those who miss her so ! Our Christian Faith encourages us that there is much more to life and its’ brutalities than meets our eyes; despite how unfair and unjust and terrible it might all seem. I cling to this childlike trust to Love, and that we will not be forsaken !
