January 18th, 2018

Antonio Crupi, fondly known as “Tony” to his family and friends, age 86, of Wilmington, formerly a long-time resident of Nahant, died peacefully on January 18, 2018.

Tony was born on January 8, 1932 in Messina, Italy; he was the cherished son of the late Giovanni and Grace Crupi. Tony was raised and educated in Southern Italy and Africa; he came to the United States at the age of 19 in search of the American Dream. Tony lived in Belmont and Cambridge where he made many friends.

When Tony attended a dance in Boston his life was about to change forever when he met a beautiful young girl named Olivia Guarnieri. Tony and Olivia became inseparable and soon married; they settled in Nahant where they raised a beautiful family. Tony and Olivia continued to dance for the next 61 years and made countless memories for their family to share with generations to come. Tony was a very devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who looked forward to spending time with his family. He and Olivia spent many happy times traveling, cruising the Caribbean and enjoying their winter home in Palm Beach.

Tony liked sports of all kinds but he was an avid soccer fan. Tony played soccer in his younger years and thoroughly enjoyed watching soccer matches and playoffs throughout his life. In his spare time, Tony liked to go deep sea fishing and in his later years he took up cooking and became quite a chef.

Tony worked hard to provide for his family; for many years he was an auto mechanic for the Ford Company. Tony’s work ethic and knowledge of automobiles made him quite an asset to the company; he saw many changes throughout the years in the automobile and always kept up with the ever changing industry.

Tony will be remembered as a great guy who loved his family and friends unconditionally. He was hardworking, kind and very lovable; Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
