Barbara Ann (Gadman) Amidon,

August 19th, 2018

Barbara Ann (Gadman) Amidon, of Salem, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 7, 2018.

Barbara was born on April 6, 1943 in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Arlene V.(Grant) Belcher and loving sister of the late Arlene Golden. Barbara was raised in Jamaica Plain & Dorchester and graduated from the Trade High School for Girls in Boston. Barbara married “the love of her life” George R. Amidon, Sr. on October 21, 1962; the couple moved to Wilmington in 1964 where they raised their four children, George, Jr., Kevin, Ron and Leasa. Barbara and George, along with their family shared many wonderful years together; they enjoyed trips to Lake Winnipesaukee where they made countless memories with their children.

As a young woman, Barbara enjoyed working at Filene’s Basement in Boston. After settling down in Wilmington she worked at Diamond Crystal, Bandwagon but she was the most passionate of her role as a stay at home mom following the birth of her children. She was an excellent seamstress who could whip up anything from an outfit for her children to a simple hem on a pair of pants or button on a shirt.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed going to the lake house, reading, listening to Elvis, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Barbara got the most enjoyment from being a loving wife, sister, mother, grammie, aunt and friend.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late George R. Amidon, Sr., devoted mother of George R. Amidon, Jr.& his wife Cynthia of Wilmington, Kevin Amidon & his wife Donna of Billerica, Ron Amidon & his wife Lauren of Revere and Leasa (Amidon) Fluet & her husband Marc of Salem, NH and loving “Grammie” of Zachary Amidon, Ashley Amidon, Codey Fluet and Kaitlyn Amidon.
Barbara will be fondly remembered as a special woman who was kind, caring and loving; she will be greatly missed by all.

At Barbara’s request all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, this was one of Barbara’s favorite charities.
