Caples, Michael

January 4th, 2010

Caples, michaelMichael G. Caples, age 57, of Wilmington, formerly of Allston, died peacefully at home on January 4, 2010, with his family at his side.

Born in Charlestown on December 10, 1952, Michael was the dear son of the late James D. & Mary E. (Codair) Caples. Michael was raised in Allston, and spent his school years in Boston. He married Jean M Peach, his high-school sweetheart in 1973. Together Jean and Michael had three children in Allston before moving to Wilmington in 1987. Michael could be seen attending all of his children’s sporting events and activities.

In the last eight years Michael was blessed with 8 wonderful grandchildren whom he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. He was the ultimate “family man” in the truest sense. His dream of someday owning his own boat came true in 2002. Michael named the boat “Papa’s Dream” and enjoyed the company of many family and friends relaxing on the dock and getting an occasional fishing trip in every now and then.

Michael was a professional carpenter and during his off time he was always working on friends and families homes. He was truly a very gentle and generous man who was always there when needed; whether it be a small deck or a whole kitchen remodel, no job was ever too tough. Michael was forced to retire due to illness in 2008 and tried to enjoy each and every day remaining. Michael will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.

Michael was the beloved husband of Jean (Peach) Caples, proud father of Michelle Hamilton and her partner Henry Belding of Wilmington, James Caples and his wife Liane of Tewksbury, Mark Caples and his wife Rebecca of Wilmington and the late Michael Caples Jr., loving Papa of Domenic, Amanda, Darren, David, James, Stella, Nathan, Riley and Mikey. son of the late Mary (Codair) and James D. Caples Sr., son- in- law of Stanley Peach and the late Jean Peach of Wilmington. Brother of Margaret Porcello and the late John Porcello of Allston, Maureen and George DeRosa of S. Yarmouth, Edwardine and Daniel Henderson of Las Vegas, brother- in- law of Joanne Caples of Melrose, Gary and Corine Peach of Tewksbury and the late Mary Jane and Leo Boucher, Sheila and Henry Tucker and James D. Caples Jr., Uncle of many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, January 8th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis de Sales Church, 303 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours Thursday, January 7th from 4-8 p.m.
