Carl D. Jaena

September 23rd, 2020

Carlos D. Jaena “Carl”, age 75, of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time resident of Charlestown, passed away suddenly at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston on September 22, 2020.

Carl was born in Boston, MA, on February 11, 1945; he was the cherished son of the late Carlos and Alma Jaena. Carl was raised and educated in Charlestown; he was a “true townie” at heart and never forgot his roots.

Carl was incredibly handy, and proficient in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades. He was the owner/operator of his own business Carl’s Canvas Company in Somerville for over 30 years. Carl’s had great people skills and his work ethic was second to none.

Carl was known for his quick wit, and pet names he had for everyone; he was quite a character. He loved to joke and tease his family and friends. Carl enjoyed playing a good game of cards with the guys, was an avid reader of books of all sorts and was a true Boston sports fan; rarely missing a game.

Carl will be fondly remembered as a “Great Guy”. He would do anything for anyone whether you were family, extended family, friend, or a complete stranger. He was always willing to help out. He was always happiest when he was with his family. They enjoyed the time they spent together, and they will forever cherish those memories.

Carl was the beloved husband of Georgie Jaena (Godfrey), devoted father of Laurie Jaena of Tewksbury and Adam Jaena of Boston, cherished son of the late Carlos and Alma (Davidson) Jaena, dear brother of Geraldine Maxwell of Washington, the late Barbara Jaena, and late Joseph Jaena. Carl is further survived by many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, for Visitation on Saturday, September 26th from 12:00-1:45 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service in the Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington at 2:00 p.m. Masks are required to be worn while in the Funeral Home.
