Carrien, Thomas

Thomas E. Carrien, age 64, of Billerica, formerly of Lawrence, died unexpectedly, January 23, 2011.

Born on September 10, 1946, in Lawrence, MA, Thomas was the dear son of Thomas J. and Eldora (Blais) Carrien of Lawrence. Thomas grew up in Lawrence, where he attended Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Essex Agricultural School in Danvers.

He enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and began active service on August 31, 1964. Thomas proudly served his country and earned many commendations for his efforts, he was honorably discharged on August 30, 1970.

At the time of his death, Thomas was employed as a mail handler for the United States Postal Distribution Center in North Reading and was a member of National Postal Mail Handlers Union Local 301.

Thomas will be fondly remembered as a quiet guy who loved to read and follow Patriots football. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Brenda (Parker) Carrien, devoted father of Danielle Vieira and Jason Carrien both of Billerica, Thomas Carrien & his wife Paulette of Derry, NH and Brenda Salois & her husband Steve of North Andover, loving grandfather of Collin Carrien and Jessica Salois, dear son of Eldora (Blais) Carrien and the late Thomas J. Carrien of Lawrence, dear brother of James Carrien of Vermont, Michael Carrien of Florida, Linda Healy of Arizona, Robert Carrien and Kenneth Carrien both of Lawrence, Donna Kelly of So. Carolina, William Carrien of New Hampshire, and Dennis Carrien of Seabrook, NH, Thomas is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), Wilmington, on Sunday, January 30th from 3-7 p.m. Funeral Home service Monday, January31st at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers donations in Thomas’ name may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114 or to the Elks Lodge Scholarship Fund BPOE 2070, 777 South Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
