Charles Benjamin Kendall

Kingston, MA – Charles (Charlie) Benjamin Kendall died peacefully surrounded by family, at the age of 89, on November 21, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his parents Richard S. and Margarita (Bliss) Kendall. Charles was born in Plymouth, MA and spent his youth in South Portland, ME.

Charles was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He graduated from Boston University on the GI bill.

Charles spent many years as a buyer working for Bethlehem Steel and General Dynamics at the shipyard in Quincy, MA. As Charles suffered from hearing loss he found inspiration working his later years for the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph, MA.

Charles used his love of astronomy to teach celestial navigation for the US Power Squadron. He was an Eagle Scout, an avid sailor, loved model planes, skiing and the ocean. He was known for his sense of humor and his love of a good joke.

He leaves behind his son, Richard S. Kendall, II (Paula) of Sandwich, MA, daughter Ann L. Beringer (Brian) of Tigard, OR and son John L. Kendall (Victoria) of Roseville, MN. Grampa Chuck also leaves Richard S. Kendall, III (Anna), Brain A. Kendall, Samantha A. Kendall, Emma C. Beringer, Benjamin S. Kendall, Elise A. Kendall, Jacob E. Kendall, Eric A. Kendall and great granddaughter Harper W. Kendall. Chuck leaves many memories of Maine and California while visiting his sister, Priscilla Kirkeby and her sons and their families of Mission Viejo, CA. Charlie leaves many friends at Wingate, where he lived for many years. He also leaves his former wife, Lois A. Kendall of East Falmouth, MA.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 28, 2017 at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA.

In lieu of flowers a remembrance may be sent in Charles’ name to Hearing Loss Association of America, 7910 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 1200, Bethesda, MD 20814.
