Charles Duffy, III

Charles Duffy III, age 56, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, died peacefully on December 16, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

 Charlie was born on April 11, 1957, in Winchester, MA; he was the beloved son of Charles Duffy, Jr. and Dorothea M. (Froton) Duffy. 

 Charlie was raised and educated in Wilmington; he was active in Wilmington Youth Hockey and Wildcat Pop Warner Football for many years.

 Charlie was a hard worker; he worked in the construction business his entire adult life.  He started with doing forms and worked his way up to building additions and houses; Charlie mostly enjoyed working with his brothers, they all had a special bond.

Charlie will be remembered as a quiet guy, he kept to himself, but he loved to hang out with his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charlie is survived by his parents Charles Duffy, Jr. of Tewksbury and Dorothea M. (Froton) Duffy of Indianapolis, IN, his children Danielle Thomas and her husband Paul of Lowell and Daniel C. Wandell of Tewksbury, his grandson Collin Robson, his brothers and sisters; James Duffy and his wife Barbara of Tewksbury, Karen Webster of Salt Lake City, UT, Kevin Duffy of Boston, David Duffy and his wife Lynel of Indianapolis, IN, and Mary Duffy and her partner Anne Crawshaw of Sherbourne, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Charlie was pre-deceased by his brother Michael Duffy. 

 Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service on Saturday, January 18th at 11:30 a.m in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington.  Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th from 5-8 p.m.  Following the Funeral Service on Saturday, the family will be receiving guests at the Tewksbury Elks Lodge, 777 South Street, Tewksbury, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. to continue a celebration of Charlie’s life. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701.
