Charles Duggan

April 18th, 2021

Charles Duggan, fondly known as “Charlie” to his family and friends, age 74, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 15, 2021.

Charlie was born on October 18, 1946, at home in Wilmington, MA; he was the dear son of the late John “Mike” and Margaret Duggan and the youngest of 14 siblings. Charlie was raised and educated in Wilmington and learned to be a hard worker from a young age. This was a trait that carried him throughout his life.

Charlie started his long career in construction working concrete forms. After several years, Charlie broke out on his own and started Charles Duggan Concrete Forms Company. Charlie’s work ethic along with his outgoing personality made him quite successful throughout the years. He proudly pointed out homes in the area that he had completed foundations on.

Charlie married “his sweetheart” Susan Morris on September 7, 1968; the couple settled in Tewksbury where they raised two wonderful daughters. Charlie was very dedicated to his family; he loved his wife and daughters dearly, but really cherished his role as Pappi to his three grandchildren. Charlie and Susan, along with their family, shared many great times together; family holidays and road trips were always a lot of fun. Charlie’s family was most important in his life; they were truly his legacy and he was so proud of them.

Charlie was a man of many talents; he was an avid gardener with an unbelievable green thumb who created beautiful flower gardens throughout his yard, an excellent wood worker, and he could fix any small engine that was put in front of him. Charlie had an array of snow blowers and lawn mowers of all makes and models in his yard that he was either fixing for a friend or neighbor or fixing and selling. Charlie was known to be a “tinkerer” around the house and yard; he loved to challenge himself and could fix just about anything.

Charlie will be fondly remembered as a “great guy”, he was easy going, friendly and sociable; he would go out of his way to help anyone, never expecting anything in return. Charlie had a great sense of humor; he enjoyed making people laugh and smile. Charlie was a wonderful family man who loved his family and friends with all his heart and he will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charlie was the beloved husband of 52 years to Susan J. Duggan (Morris), devoted father of Karen Rizzuti & her husband Joe of Tewksbury and Kim Scott & her husband Paul of Lowell. Loving “Pappi” of Erin Scott, Madison Scott and Phenix Rizzuti. Dear son of the late John “Mike” and Margaret (Howes) Duggan, brother of Catherine Reinold, Mary Bammarito, William Duggan, Michael “Mickey” Duggan all of NH, Margaret Melvin of FL, Grace Carroll, Thomas Duggan both of Wilmington and the late Henry “Hank” Duggan, John Duggan, Francis “PeeWee” Duggan, Eugene “Gene” Duggan, James “Big Jim” Duggan and Joseph Duggan. Charlie is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service on Friday, April 23rd at 12:00 noon in Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury, MA. Masks required due to covid regulations.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to the Beth Israel Lahey Health at Home, 800 W. Cummings Park, Suite 5000, Woburn, MA 01801.
