Clifford J. Southmayd

Clifford J. Southmayd, “Cliff”, age 72, of Stoneham, formerly of Wilmington, passed away of May 22, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

Cliff was born on June 16, 1948, in Somerville, MA; he was the son of the late Arthur M. and Lillian R. (Sheahan) Southmayd. Cliff was raised and educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School.

Cliff enlisted in the United States Army on August 5, 1966, during the Vietnam War; he actively served the country until September 5, 1969, when he was honorably discharged. Cliff went on to the Army Reserves until August of 1972.

Cliff went on to continue his education in nursing; he went on to work in the healthcare industry for many years.

Cliff was the husband of the late Louise (Regnere) Southmayd. He is survived by his three children Tracey Schumacher of Idaho, Kelly Goddard of Wyoming and Sue Stewart of Connecticut, as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Charles Southmayd and his wife Debbie and Thomas Southmayd and his wife Louise all of Wilmington, the late Arthur Southmayd, the late Merrilyn Corcoran and her late husband Robert, the late Janice Brabant and her late husband Richard, the late Claire Connelly and her husband Neal and the late James Southmayd and his wife Jeanne. Cliff is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

At Cliff’s request, his Funeral Services will be private.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington.
