David B. Tingdahl

David B. Tingdahl, “Dave”, age 57, of Wilmington, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on May 15, 2021.

Dave was born on September 9, 1963 in Medford, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Arnold and Mary (Moffat) Tingdahl. Dave was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. Following graduation, Dave went to Benjamin Franklin trade school where he earned his electrician’s license.

Dave worked as an electrician for many years before joining Union Local 4 as an elevator mechanic. Dave’s strong work ethic made him a valuable asset to the Union.

Dave married Susan J. (Eldridge) Tingdahl in a blizzard on March 13, 1993. The couple moved to Wilmington in July of 1994, where they raised their two boys Zachery and Jeremy. Dave was very involved with the boys; he volunteered as their Scout Leader and attended all their special events.

Dave was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church. He donated many hours helping at the church events, whether it was the Christmas Tree sale, the pumpkin sale, church dinners or special services, Dave was always willing to lend a hand. Dave was also a member of the Masons. He was proud to be part of the Lodge and made many friendships with the other Lodge members.

Dave and Sue were avid campers; they looked forward to their annual camping trip at Sebago Lake with the same eleven couples and their families. They have so many wonderful memories of those camping trips. Dave was a true outdoorsman; he would camp anywhere there was water. His favorite trip was a canoe trip he took three times with his two sons to the Allagash Wilderness in Maine.

Dave will be remembered for his warm, caring personality. Everyone was welcome at the Tingdahl home and whoever was special to Zachery and Jeremy was special to Dave and Sue as well. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Dave was the beloved husband of Susan J. (Eldridge) Tingdahl, devoted father of Zachery David Tingdahl & his girlfriend Ashley Perodin and Jeremy Eldridge Tingdahl & his girlfriend Hailey Craig, dear brother of Janet Hamilton & her husband William of SC, Eric Tingdahl & his spouse Joseph Haley of Boston, Christine Trunfio & her husband Fred of Methuen, Mary Beth Woods & her husband Brian of CA, Steven Tingdahl & his wife Sharon of Middleboro, son-in-law of Raymond and Jo-Ann Eldridge of Carver, brother-in-law of Raymond Eldridge & his wife Lana of Halifax and Amanda Eldridge & Brian Kelleher of West Roxbury. Dave is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, May 20th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m. Masks are required in the Funeral Home and in the Church.

Memorial donations in Dave’s name may be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington, MA 01887.

    Josh & I are so very sorry to hear that Dave’s cancer took him from you much too soon. There are no words to make it easier. Dave was always there to give a helping hand. He will be missed by all who loved him.
    Our faith allows us to know that later in life you will all be reunited with David.As he entered the Pearly Gates of Heaven he heard Well done my Faithful Servant. He will await your arrival in one of the Lord’s Mansions.
