David C. Grisé

January 30th, 2020

David Carl “Dave” Grisé, age 82, of Wilmington, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 28th, 2020 following a battle with cancer.

David was born and raised in Newton, MA; he was the son of Lucien and Dorothy (Taboney) Grisé. Dave was a graduate of Newton North High School; he went on to further his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology; earning his Associates Degrees in Engineering and in Electrical Engineering. Dave continued his studies at Northeastern University in Boston where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Dave married Elizabeth Coyle on May 28th, 1966; the couple moved to Wilmington where they made their home for more than 50 years and raised four sons.

Dave was talented engineer for 50 plus years; he worked for a number of Contract Defense Companies including Lockheed Martin and Textron before taking a position at BAE Systems in Nashua, NH, where he worked for several years before retiring in 2001.

Dave had a great passion for helping others. He was particularly involved in St. Dorothy’s Church and constantly reached out to fellow parishioners and friends. If he wasn’t in church, one would likely find him working in his bountiful fruit and vegetable garden.

Dave was the husband of Elizabeth B. (Coyle) Grisé, father of Lucien (Sandra) of Ayer, MA, Edward (Laurel) of Billerica, MA, Adrien (Cyndi) of Clinton, MA and Henry (Clarisse) of Tallahassee, FL. He was fondlyknown as “Grandpa/Papa” Dave to his grandchildren Andrew, Hannah, Isabelle, Carter, Fred, Ellis and Corbin. Dave joins his late sister Jeannette and is survived by sisters Judith and Dorothy, nieces, nephews and family friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), on Monday, February 3rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main Street (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2nd from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to St. Dorothy’s Church, c/o Parish Office, 11 Harnden St., Wilmington, MA 01887.
