David S. Stedman

November 19th, 2021

David S. Stedman, “Dave”, age 51, of Woburn, formerly of Wilmington, passed away suddenly on November 17, 2021.

Dave was born on March 18, 1970, in Woburn, MA; he was the cherished son of Stanley and Ruth (Kindred) Stedman. Dave grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1988.

Dave worked as a machinist and an inspector for Alexander Machine and Tool Company.

Dave met his “Lovey”, Laura Manta, over twenty years ago. They had many wonderful times together over the years; they enjoyed spending time at their home in Woburn, taking walks, and taking day trips to Rockport for lobster.

Dave was so proud to become an “Uncle Dave” to Samantha, Alexander, and Stephanie. He loved to spend time with them; whether it was teaching the kids how to drive, taking them out to dinner, or just joking around, he enjoyed every minute.

Camping was one of Dave’s passions; from a young child through adulthood, Dave spent every summer at his grandparent’s campground in Wolfeboro, NH. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time at his trailer. Dave also was a music enthusiast; he loved playing his guitar and listening to music.

Dave will be remembered as a gentle soul; he truly was a happy guy who had the brightest smile. He was the “life of the party” who loved to dance, sing, and make people laugh. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Dave was the beloved son of Stanley and Ruth (Kindred) Stedman of Naples, FL, formerly of Wilmington, dear brother of Tammy Soper & her husband Peter of North Reading and Julie Dembitzky of Tuftonboro, NH, special “Uncle Dave” of Samantha Hope & her husband Daniel of Wilmington, Alexander Soper and Stephanie Soper both of North Reading. Dave is also survived by his “Lovey”, Laura Manta of Woburn.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Monday, November 22nd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main Street (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 10:00 a.m. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, November 21st from 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA  02114.

I am so saddened to hear of David’s passing. Dave was one of my very best friends from childhood and life. One of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met. I have many fond memories of going to the camp and staying over starting bands.. Mr. & Mrs Steadman, Julie & Tammy, my thoughts and prayers are with you all as well as Laura. You all treated me like family when we were kids, and Dave was my brother. I just talked to him about six months ago and we were going to get together and “jam” anyone who knows Dave knows how much he loved to play his guitar.. he was amazing at it!! One of the best guitarist I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. I am sure he is in heaven getting another lesson from out late great guitar teacher. RIP Dave.. i will miss those random phone calls “Hey, what’s happening!! You want to jam?” I love you kid!! I will keep learning those songs you wanted me too so we can jam again some day in Heaven!!

We are shocked and saddened to learn of David’s passing. We loved him liked our own son. We will always remember his kindness and concern for others, his love and caring for our daughter Laura and for his wonderful sense of humor. He would call every Friday to tell us about how his week went. We will miss him terribly but he’ll be forever in our hearts. Our deepest sympathies to all his family and friends.

Dave, seeing your family was so bitter sweet today… it has been so long since I have seen any of them, so wish it was under better circumstances. Seeing you all brought back so many great memories of Dave and I together. You guys were my other family, my home away from home. Hopefully you can all find peace, my heart and prayers are with you all.

I would like to share with you a verse that David wrote for a song from one of our first bands together…I’m sure some of you probably have heard Dave sing these lyrics before, but it just seemed fitting as he starts his new life in heaven..

I look up to see the rain, falling down, falling down
On the ground, but there’s no sound-
It’s coming soon the summers end
say goodbye to a dear old friend-
I’ll see you again, around the bend..

    D. Steadman

Dave, I will see you again one day.. around the bend
    I love you my brother

David will be missed. He was such a bright light, so joyous and had an incredible smile. He always stopped to have conversation and it was a blessing to see him every summer.
I’m so incredibly sorry to hear this news. My siblings and I will miss him. The camp will not be the same without him! You are all in our prayers.
