Deborah Fitzgerald

April 1st, 2020

Deborah Fitzgerald (Manson), age 84, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away on April 1, 2020, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Deborah was born in Winchester, MA, on August 16, 1935; she was the cherished daughter of Spurgeon and Bertha Manson. Deborah was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1953.

Deborah married James Fitzgerald on January 10,1959; the couple bought their home on Marion Street in Wilmington where they raised their three children; Karen, Donna and Michael. Deborah, according to her children, was an “amazing mother”; she was devoted, loving, supportive and fun to be around. When Deborah became “Nanny” to her grandchildren; Heather, Justin, Brianna, Cheyenne and “Great-Grammy” to her baby Michael, her world became even brighter; she treasured the time she spent with them and hardly ever missed a special occasion, school event or sporting event that they were involved in.

Deborah was an AVID knitter; she could “whip up” just about anything with her knitting needles; hats, mittens, sweaters, blankets, you name it she could figure out a way to make it. Deborah’s creations made countless gifts for her family and friends to cherish because they were not only made with her hands but they were made out of her love for everyone.

Deborah, along with her husband and friends, enjoyed going on countless Wilmington Recreation Trips throughout the years; she especially enjoyed “trying her luck” at their Foxwoods excursions.

Deborah will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and devotion for her family and friends; they were her world and she will forever be in their hearts.

Deborah was the beloved wife of James F. Fitzgerald, devoted mother of Karen Roberts & her husband Kenneth of Wilmington, Donna Fuchs and Michael Fitzgerald both of Tewksbury. Loving “Nanny” of Heather & Michael MacMillian, Justin & Hannah Roberts, Brianna Fuchs, Cheyenne Fuchs and Great-Grammy of Michael MacMillian. Cherished daughter of the late Spurgeon and Bertha (Jakobsen) Manson, dear sister of the late S. David Manson, Jr. and Donald Manson, sister-in-law of Patricia Manson and Marie Manson. Deborah is also survived by her nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Deborah’s memory may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.

Due to the current situation of the Corona Virus and for the safety of everyone, the Fitzgerald family has chosen to have a private service at this time.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington, MA. www.nicholsfuneralhome.com
