Dennis Savosik

January 28th, 2017

Dennis Savosik, age 73, a long-time Wilmington resident, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Chelsea on July 24th, 1943, Dennis was the son of the late John and Martha (Levinska) Savosik. He was raised in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School.  Following high school, Dennis earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Salem State College and then continued on to receive his Master’s Degree at Boston University.

Dennis married the love of his life, Kathy Vieira in 1967; the couple settled in Wilmington in 1969 where they raised a wonderful family.  That same year, Dennis began his teaching career at Chelmsford High School where he taught Business and Accounting courses.  Dennis had an unwavering devotion to his students and their education; he taught them to reach for the stars and that there wasn’t anything they couldn’t accomplish with hard work.  Dennis also had a great personality and was a favorite among his fellow teachers and faculty; he finally retired in 2001 following 35 years as a wonderful educator.

Dennis loved his family unconditionally; his two daughters meant the world to him.  In later years, it was the grandchildren that occupied Dennis’ time.  He loved to attend the grandkids sporting events and dance recitals; he was always their biggest fan.  Although Dennis and Kathy enjoyed their vacations to Martha’s Vineyard, Ireland, and on several cruises, Dennis would much rather have been home spending time with the family.  Dennis was an avid golfer and enjoyed any kind of trivia, Jeopardy being his favorite show. He was a long-time member of the Lions Club and played on the club softball team for many years.

Dennis will be fondly remembered as a great friend who was fun to be around; he will be forever missed by those closest to him.

Dennis was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Vieira) Savosik of Wilmington. He was the loving father of Patricia Savosik Meehan and Brenda McConologue & her husband Dan, all of Wilmington.  Cherished “Grampie & Bing” of Rebecca Russo, Helen Meehan and Katie, Danny & Dennis McConologue.  Dennis was the dear brother of William & Dianne Savosik of Wilmington, Peter & Peggy Savosik of Colorado and the late Dorothy Ebert.  Dennis is survived by his brother-in-law George Ebert of Wilmington as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, January 31st at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.    Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, January 30th from 3-7 p.m.

Memorial donations in Dennis’s name can be made to Care Dimensions c/o the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA  01923 or to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 41 Highland Ave., Winchester, MA 01890.
