Donald E. Peak

Donald E. Peak, age 80, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2018, at the High Point Hospice House following a brief illness.

Donald was born on April 15, 1938, in Somerville, MA; Donald was raised and educated in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School with the Class of 1956.

Donald, enlisted in the United States Navy on June 1, 1962, at the U. S. Naval Air Station in South Weymouth, MA. Don served honorably for three years during the Vietnam War, he was released from active service in May of 1965 and was then transferred to the U. S. Naval Reserves in Bainbridge, Maryland. Don continued to serve the country with the Naval Reserves until March of 1967.

Donald married his “sweetheart”, Diane Zinck on June 14, 1958; the couple just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Don and Diane moved to Wilmington in 1965 where they raised two wonderful children, Jennie and Doug. Don was a very devoted and loving husband, father and “Papa” to his grandchildren Connor and Sarah; he always looked forward to the times they spent together.

Prior to retiring, Don, worked as a custodian for the Sudbury United Methodist Church in Sudbury, MA, where he also made many friends throughout the years.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Zinck) Peak, his daughter Jennie Pelletier & her husband Joseph of Chelmsford, his son Douglas Peak & his wife Karen of Woodbridge, VA, and his grandchildren Connor and Sarah. Son of the late Walter and Helen (Blood) Peak, dear brother of Elaine Mulno of California and brother of the late Richard Dick) Morrill and the late Robert (Bobby) Morrill. Don is further survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Sunday, October 14th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Donald’s Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
