Donna M. Guarino

September 23rd, 2016

Donna M. Guarino, age 52, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2016, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Donna was born on January 17, 1964 in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert & Eleanor (McNeil) Guarino. Donna was raised in Wilmington and graduated Wilmington High School in 1982.

Donna was a loyal and dedicated worker; she worked for 13 years at the Wilmington Plaza liquor store, formerly known as “Shamrocks.” At the time of her passing, Donna was working two jobs; she was employed at the Dollar Tree and Cumberland Farms. Donna was a “people person”; she was very well-respected by her co-workers and her customers. She loved working in customer service and always had a smile, kind words or just loved to catch up with those who became her “regulars.”

Donna was very devoted to her family; she took wonderful care of her Dad before his passing two years ago. Donna would take her Dad in his wheelchair everyday, making sure he never missed his daily walk.

Donna’s daughter, Christine, was the light of her life; she was so proud of the woman Christine became. Christine and Donna were as close as mother and daughter could be. They always made special time for each other. “Daughter day” was on Fridays and the two loved to go to coffee and run errands.

Donna will be remembered for her warm, caring personality; she loved her family and friends unconditionally and would do anything for them. Donna loved her neighborhood and thought of her neighbors as her extended family; they all enjoyed spending time together and looked out for each other. She will also be remembered for her love of dogs, especially her German Shepard Rambo.

Donna is the devoted mother of Christine Guarino of Wilmington, cherished daughter of the late Albert & Eleanor (McNeil) Guarino and dear sister of Albert Guarino, Jr. of Wilmington. Donna is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, September 28th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Donna’s name may be made to the MSPCA-ANGELL, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.

I am very sorry for your sudden loss. The Bible offers comfort for distressed hearts. “And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Acts 24:15) We can believe that God will bring those who have died back to life. Why? Because he has done it before. (Luke 8:49-56; John 11:1-45; Acts 20:7-12) Jehovah God has promised us that there will be a resurrection, and he “cannot lie.” (Titus 1:2) May this bring you comfort during this difficult time.

I did not know Donna personally, but living in Wilmington, Cumberland Farms was always my go-to place for gas and a snack. She was always there with a smile, always so friendly and hard working. I also saw her working at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago, and surprisingly said “Oh you’re over here now?” She replied with “Yes, but I can’t stand the fact that there’s no music to listen to, I’m going crazy!” She made me laugh. Heaven has gained a sweet angel named Donna, and she will be greatly missed by many of her customers.
