Donna M. McBay

November 20th, 2019

Donna M. McBay (Hurley), age 69, of Londonderry, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2019, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, following a brief illness.

Donna was born on February 3, 1950, in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Mary Hurley. Donna grew up in Dorchester and attended Catholic Schools; she was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury, with the Class of 1969.

Donna married and moved to Wilmington in 1976; where she raised her two children Kim and Scott. Donna loved being a mom; she was very devoted to her family and showered her children with unconditional love and support. When Donna became a “Grammy” she was thrilled and loved to dote on her grandchildren. Donna never missed a sporting event, school concert, or any other activity they were involved in; they were her whole world. Donna’s grandchildren lived in Londonderry, NH so seventeen years ago she moved up north to be close to them. Donna enjoyed her new home; she liked her gardens out in her yard and she enjoyed feeding the birds.

At the time of her death, Donna was employed at the L-3 Harris Company as a Human Resource Generalist. Donna thoroughly enjoyed her job; she made many great friendships with her co-workers and she enjoyed socializing and travelling with them outside of work. To her family’s amazement, Donna, even went out of her comfort zone on one of the trips and went zip lining.

Donna will be fondly remembered as a wonderful woman who was kind and caring towards everyone she met. Donna looked forward to the time she spent with family and friends and they in turn will cherish the time and memories they made together. Donna will forever be in the hearts of those she loved.

Donna was the devoted mother of Kimberly A. (McBay) McKinnon & her partner Gregg Connolly of Londonderry, NH and the late Scott F. McBay. Loving “Grammy” of Patrick, Connor, Taylor, Lindsey, Matthew and Holly. Cherished daughter of the late John and Mary (Daley) Hurley, dear sister of the late Barbara Vaughan and John Hurley. Donna was also very special to Francis and Diane McBay of Wilmington as well as many dear friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA. I am very sorry for our loss of Donna and my prayers go out to her family. I know she is expressing her joy, and is blessing those around her as she did when with us. Donna was a wonderful friend to her co-workers at SSG. Her work ethic was tremendous and she always went the extra mile to help. I always said to her “Donna, you are awesome”, which always followed going beyond expectations in supporting a request for help. I am sorely missing her presence, but it was an honor to have the opportunity to work and laugh with her.

I am so saddened for Donna’s cherished family and friends that we lost her too soon. Donna was a warm and kind person who looked after everybody she met. She made me feel like family during my time at L3 and I was always grateful to her for going the extra mile. She was always so proud to share what her grandkids were doing and never forgot to ask me how my “little guy” is doing. Donna, you’ll be missed!

  9. Alex Manoogian says:

Donna was a beam of light for me and everyone else at L3Harris SSG. Aside from being the hardest working person in the building, she genuinely cared about her coworkers and their happiness. She could tell if you were stressed or having a bad day in a single glance, and always said the right things to make you feel better. My prayers go out to her family, and I hope you all know just how much she was loved by everyone here at SSG. She made an impact every single day and this place will never be the same without her presence. I know I will never forget her or the smiles she brought me over the past 2 years.

    to all her family:
Im am so sorry for your loss your Mom and Grammy. she was an amazing woman who lit up a room. Saying she is missed is an understatement.

She was my second mom. Always uplifting me when life wasnt as I had planned or telling me what I needed to hear not what I wanted to hear. (she also allowed me to tell her what she needed to hear, even though she didnt like it).

We at L3 will miss her energy and how she cared for each one of us as her own.

“A life well lived is when you are missed when you are gone from here”. Who can ask for more.

Our L3 family is forever changed. yes, Alex, She was the hardest working person in the building, no lie.

Donna, until we meet again! it is not goodby but see you later.
    I miss you.
(wisper: tell my mom and dad i said hi!)

  12. David Collins says:

I worked together with Donna for three years at L3 SSG, she was my friend. I remember my first day at SSG. I didn’t know anyone or any of the systems and I’ll never forget what she said to me when we first met, “listen I’m here for you buddy. Anything you need you let me know”. She had made me feel at home with two sentences. Together with our team we went on to tackle some tough projects and Donna’s dedication, personality and friendship made us all successful and better people. I am saddened beyond words for her family’s loss and for the loss to everyone who knew her. Donna truly rocked and I loved her for it.
