Doris K. Nash

January 19th, 2016

Doris K. Nash (Miller), age 86, of Wilmington, died peacefully on January 19, 2016, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House.

Doris was born on August 27, 1929, in Waltham, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Bertram and Nema (Porter) Miller. Doris was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School.

In her later years, Doris went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Social Work from Middlesex Community College in Bedford. Doris loved to help people and used her degree to the fullest; she took a position at Winchester Hospital as a Licensed Social Worker and became a passionate advocate at the hospital. Doris went on to start up the “Life-Line” at Winchester Hospital which became quite important in getting emergency help to those in need and saved many lives throughout the years.

Doris loved her fashion and was always well dressed and accessorized. Doris loved discount shopping for clothing and jewelry; she had quite a knack for putting her outfits together. Equally she enjoyed putting together individualized “goodie” bags for gifts to family.

In her spare time, Doris loved reading her romance novels and doing her liquid embroidery. Doris had a fascination for Egyptian history; she enjoyed researching and reading about the culture and the pyramids.

Doris will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She treasured all of the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris enjoyed countless family celebrations, holidays, and vacations. Doris loved to travel with her husband Ed from coast to coast and her most memorable trips were to Hawaii and Bermuda.

Doris was a wonderful and generous woman who was always helping others and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Doris was the beloved wife of Edwin G. Nash, devoted mother of William Arrington, Sr. & his wife Earlene of Westford, MA, Donna Desmarais of Rochester, NH, David Coye & his wife Mary of Litchfield, NH, Diane Sylvester & her husband Charles Jr. of Wilmington, Leonard Nash of California, Stephen Nash of Ohio, Michael Nash of Maine, Scott Nash of Lowell, and Maureen Stevens & her husband Frank of Wilmington. Loving grandmother of Brian, Christopher, David, Marie, Cameron, Kyle, Trey, Desiree, Amanda, Jillian, Jonathan, Jacqueline, Heather, Parker, Frankie, Ashley, as well as many great-grandchildren including “her boy” Mason. Doris was the dear sister of Donald Miller of Wilmington and sister-in-law of Helena Meade of South Boston.

Family and Friends will gather for Visiting Hours on Friday, January 22nd from 4:00-7:00 in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington.
