Dorothea M. (Froton) Duffy

Dorothea M. Duffy (Froton), age 86, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully on February 1, 2017.

Dorothea was the devoted mother of James Duffy & wife Barbara of Tewksbury, Karen Duffy, UT, Kevin Duffy of Boston, David Duffy & wife Lynel of Indianapolis, Mary Duffy & wife Anne Crawshaw of Anthony, FL, the late Charles Duffy III and Michael Duffy. Loving grandmother of Mark Webster, Lynne Webster, Lianne (Duffy) O’Day, Dave Duffy, James Duffy, Danielle Thompson, Danny Wandell, Catherine Duffy, John Duffy, Dylan Duffy, great grand-children Nicholas, Kylie, Cameron, Caden, Colin, Camie, Haylee, Parker, Christina. Dear daughter of the late Burton and Mary (Walsh) Froton, sister of Richard Froton, Mary Elaine (Froton) Kelly, Shirley Froton, the late Barbara Coleman, Burton, David, Ronald, Buddy and Freddie Froton. Dorothea is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dorothea was married to the late Charles Duffy Jr. and later to Lawrence Holmes.

Dorothea was born and raised in Wilmington. She graduated with honors from Wilmington High School in 1947. She worked as an administrative assistant for Burlington Medical Associates, and later Digital Equipment Corporation where she retired in 1988. Upon retirement, she and her husband Larry bought a cottage in Maine, where she enjoyed going to yard sales, antique shops, and hosting family for visits. Dotty raised quality German Shepherd dogs in Wilmington when her children were young. She enjoyed crocheting, and gifted many with a Christmas stocking or an afghan or both! She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2005 to be closer to her two youngest grandchildren. Dotty loved to cook. Her “famous” spaghetti sauce and chocolate “Wacky cake” were among the favorites enjoyed by her children and grandchildren.

Please join us in remembering the lives of Dorothea and Michael as we gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, July 8th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Following the Mass, Dorothea will be interred along-side her son Michael in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 7th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
