Dorothy (Stowe) Noel

April 5th, 2019

Dorothy Noel (Stowe), “Dottie”, age 90, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019.

Dorothy was born on December 16, 1928, in Everett; she was the cherished only child to the late Ernest and Dorothy Stowe. She was raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School.

Dorothy married the “love of her life” Larry Noel in 1950; the couple shared over 57 wonderful years together before his passing in 2007. Larry and Dottie moved to Wilmington in 1951 where they raised their family. Dottie was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother; she was always there to support her family in every way. Dottie and Larry became very involved in their new community and she was always at his side helping with Wilmington Little League and Wilmington Pop Warner. Dottie traveled all over New England supporting Pop Warner and helping in every way possible; she also ran the concession stand for Little league baseball for many years.

As a parent, Dottie, attended countless sporting events for “her boys”; she was their biggest cheerleader and never missed an event. When Dottie became a “Nana” to Bonnie and Nick her world became even brighter. Dottie took Bonnie to countless dance classes and competitions and attended numerous sports games for Nick. She just adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dottie was also the first “Mrs. Claus” for the town of Wilmington; she along with her husband Larry also known as “Santa” enjoyed their yearly visits with the children in town and brought many smiles to their little faces. They truly loved being part of such a memorable event for many, many years.

Dottie will be fondly remembered for her beautiful smile and generous spirit; she was the ultimate caregiver to many people throughout her life. Dottie went out of her way to do anything she could for her family, friends and neighbors; there was no limit to her energy. She was kind, caring, giving and had a great personality; she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Dottie was truly a “one of a kind” lady who will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Larry Noel, devoted mother of Bob Noel of Tewksbury, the late Ray Noel and Karen Noel. Loving “Nana” of Bonnie Mounsey & husband Rich of Wilmington, Nick Noel & girlfriend Erica Carfango of Tewskbury and great-grandchildren Benjamin, Mia and Jaclyn.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, April 8th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

”Fantastic” was a word Dotty use to like to say after she ate at a good restaurant. Our little group of Sunshine people would always smile when she would say it. I think of the hours she and I waited for Bonnie and Karyn to get out of dance classes.
Dottie would say lets go to the Pie Restaurant because it WAS Fantastc.
    Love you Dottie ???? Florence

  2. Lisa Clark says:

The Sunshine family is just a little dimmer today. Dottie was such a special lady to all of us. I loved her wit and wisdom. She will be greatly missed. Sending many hugs and hope for comfort to all of you at this very difficult time. Rest in peace my friend. I love you.

  3. William Fay says:

There are many people who pass through our life, most without leaving a trace… then there are those who stick like Velcro in a corner of your heart… Dottie and Larry were those types of people…. I’ve never known a more giving and selfless couple….worked with both of them for years in little league… it’s been said our main purpose on earth is to leave it better than we found it… rest easy, Dottie…. mission accomplished..!!

  4. Kathy Boylen says:

Bob and family We are sorry to hear that Mrs Noel has passed away. She was my neighbor for my whole life. I always saw her driving by in that big car of hers ! I always new it was her and she always had a wave and a smile for me as she drove past. The husky’s she had when I was younger made her so happy. I remember how much she loved them. May she rest in peace as Mr Noel, Ray and her beloved daughter all meet her in Heaven.
