Edward Meleschuk

Edward Meleschuk, age 97, of Tewksbury, formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2017, at the Blair House in Tewksbury.
Ed was born on October 9, 1920 in Boston, MA; he was the cherished only child to Leon and Jennie Meleschuk. Ed was raised and educated in Woburn, MA and was a graduate of Woburn High School.
In March of 1944, Ed, was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps.  He proudly served as a Sergeant with the 18th Aircraft Maintenance Floating Unit in the Western Pacific.  Ed received several commendations including the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.  Ed was honorably discharged on February 25, 1946 and returned home to his family in Woburn.
Ed made many life-long friends with his fellow soldiers; he is one of the last survivors of his original group. Ed, along with his friends always looked forward to getting together at their annual reunions where they reminisced about old times. 
In his spare time, Ed loved to build wooden model ships; his creations had so much detail to them and they were absolutely beautiful.  Ed was known to be quite an “outdoorsman” who enjoyed fishing and boating on Bow Lake in New Hampshire where he and his family had a summer home.  Ed enjoyed taking his family boating out on the lake and showing them all around.
Ed also loved to travel with his wife Irene; they enjoyed many trips all over the country, they loved to go on cruises, and they looked forward to going with the Tewksbury and Wilmington Senior Centers for their outings at Foxwoods just to try their luck.
Ed will be fondly remembered for his love of family; especially his wife Irene who he adored.  Ed also was very fond of animals and had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog Beau.
Ed was the loving husband of the late Irene (Ingalls) Baker Meleschuk, cherished son of the late Leon and Jennie (Choban) Meleschuk, beloved Dad of Jeannette R. McEnroe & her late husband Joe of Elkton, FL, Edward Meleschuk & his wife Desiree of Charlotte, NC, and step-children Robert I. Baker, Jr. & his wife Cathy, Alice W. Volpe & her husband Bob all of Wilmington, Dorothy A. Clark of Marlboro, Liz Alexander & her husband David of Methuen, and Jerry J. Baker of Londonderry, NH.  Special “Grampa” of Susan M. Tyler, Lynda H. Steinbrecher, Julie I. Martinez, Ted McEnroe & his wife Rachel, Audrey Lalitica & her husband David, Edward L. Meleschuk, Desiree I. Meleschuk, Ruby I. Baker-Gallant, Robert I. Baker III, Lori B. Volpe, Adam R. Volpe & his wife Trish, Andrew B. Volpe, Meaghan Barrette & her husband Bob, Samantha I. Clark and Sarah A. Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, December 6th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at the Wilmington Congregational Church, 220 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Memorial donations in Edward’s name may be made to the Blaire House, 10 Erlin Terrace, Tewksbury, MA  01876.
