Edward W. Morgan

November 13th, 2012

Edward W. Morgan, age 58, of Wilmington, formerly of Beverly and Amesbury, passed away on November 13, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.  Ed stubbornly fought as hard and as long as he could.

Ed was happy to share his life with his wife Beverly Sullivan for over 23 years, and his daughter Amanda Morgan, his pride and joy.  Ed was the cherished son of the late Gardiner and Barbara Morgan.  He was blessed to share his life with his “other kids” Lisa Sullivan, Colin Sullivan and daughter-in-law Shannon Sullivan. He loved being Papa Ed of Aria Sullivan.  Ed was proud to be the brother of Sandra Lefenfeld & her husband Bruce, Beth Shaughnessy & her husband Dan, and Pamela Morgan. Ed also loved his nephews and niece.  Ed also leaves his beloved cat, Beau, who was always attached to him.  Ed is further survived by many dear friends.

Ed loved his family and all his friends that he has grown to cherish these last fifty years.  Anyone who knew Ed knows how important music, trivia, and any and all sports were to him.  He played golf, basketball, and baseball.  For over 25 years, Ed was a member of the Hamilton Men’s Basketball League, the Amesbury Golf Club, and the Polish Club of Amesbury.  He was an enthusiastic fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and he enjoyed watching Seinfeld and Law and Order every chance he got.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Friday, November 16th from 4-8 p.m.

Ed and his family deeply appreciate all the help and support the Winchester Oncology Department has given him over the last four plus years.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Winchester Center for Cancer Care, 620 Washington St., Winchester, MA 01890.

To Beverly, Sandra, Beth and Pam. Ed was a fighter from the beginning, especially when it came to sports, so I wouldn’t expect anything less with fighting that dreaded disease. I’m so sorry it won out in the end. Please know that I will be thinking of you all on Saturday. I wish Mom and I could be there to pay our last respects. Love you all.
    Your cousin Sharon

For those of you I don’t know, I was the director of the Hamilton-Wenham
Mens Basketball League for the 25 years that Ed played.Ed was a man of
great character and integrity. He served on our board of directors for many
years. Ed had the ability to make the people he played with better players
but more importantly he made the players he played with better people. We,
in Hamilton share in your loss and extend our sincere condolensces. God bless.
