Edythe (Zanoni) Frezza

Edythe (Zanoni) Frezza, age 91, of Wilmington, formerly of Medford, died peacefully at home on December 21, 2012.

Edythe was born on July 9, 1921, in Boston, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Joanna (Sacchi) Zanoni.  Edythe grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School.  Edythe also summered in Wilmington during her childhood before moving permanently to Wilmington in the early 1940’s.

Edythe married the love of her life Gene Frezza and the couple settled in Medford where they lived for more than 50 years.   Edythe was a wonderful wife and an exceptional house keeper, she was an excellent cook and loved to entertain for her family and friends.

Prior to retiring, Edythe worked at a bridal shoppe in Boston for several years; Edythe loved her work and she mostly enjoyed helping brides to look beautiful on their special day.

Edythe returned to Wilmington eight years ago to care for her sister Elizabeth who’s health was failing.  Edythe and Elizabeth share a special bond as sisters and Edythe was heartbroken at her passing in January of 2011.

Edythe will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and especially a wonderful and loving aunt, and a true friend.  Edythe was always there to lend a hand, share her knowledge, she was dependable, kind, and be exceptionally helpful to everyone.  Edythe will be dearly missed.

Edythe was the beloved wife of the late Gene Frezza, cherished daughter of the late Albert and Joanna (Sacchi) Zanoni, dear sister of the late Elizabeth Zanoni, Louise Thompson, Joseph Zanoni, Albert Zanoni, and Henry Zanoni, Edythe is survived by her great-nephew William L. Thompson and his children Jessica and Billy all of Wilmington as well as many other great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends gathered at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc.,187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, for visitation on Wednesday, December 26th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment  followed in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in Edythe’s name may be made to Local Heroes, Inc., P. O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.

    In that you are the only member of the Gene Frezza family that I know, I direct my condolences to you in the loss of your dear sister-in-law. Edythe visited with my mother in her store “Muffy’s” which was next door to Gene’s barber shop, and she always impressed me with her poise. It does not seem like that many years could have passed since those days but here she is at 91 and I at 66. May she and Gene be united in the peace of the Lord.
