Elizabeth D. (Boyle) Lothian

September 4th, 2019

Elizabeth D. (Boyle) Lothian, age 82, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully with her family on Sept 3, 2019.

Betty was born Nov 20, 1936, to the late Thomas and Dorothy Boyle. She was raised in Wilmington, and was the older of the “3 Boyle Sisters”.

After graduating Wilmington High School, Betty married and settled in Wilmington, where she raised her 4 children with her former husband and friend, Jim Lothian, of Thornton NH.

Betty earned her Nursing Degree later in life. She loved being an RN and excelled for over 20 years in the Emergency Room at the former St. Joe’s Hospital in Lowell. She then retired from Saints Memorial Medical Center after 10 years of Pain Management Nursing.

Betty was an avid reader and was always eager to learn anything new. She loved to travel in and outside of the US, and loved the pre-trip research as much as the trip itself. Betty loved to cook, shop, and decorate her home. Hosting the Family Christmas Party was one of her favorite things. Betty especially loved her yearly “girls trip” to Cape Cod, and her Birthday drives up the NE Coastline. She adored her 2 kitties, Beau and Belle.

Betty was very much loved and will be sorely missed by her Family, Sisters and friends. She is survived by her 4 children and spouses: Debbie Marks and husband Randy, Patti Torres and her husband Tom, Tom Lothian and his wife Joyce, and Jay Lothian and his wife, Felicia. Beloved Grammie to Benjamin and Zachary Craig, Alison and Jeslyn Barbush, who were her favorite and adored caregivers, Phillip Jr and Hannah Torres, Jessica and Joshua Lothian, and Eliscia and Patrick Lothian. She was also the best Gigi to Lailah, Teghan and Eliana Mae. “Bettes” as she was affectionately called, also leaves her “other” beloved daughter, Laurie Allen.

Betty is survived by her best friends and broken hearted sisters, Marilyn Brisbois and her late husband Gerry, and Marti Sullivan, and her late husband Chet. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Sunday, September 8th for Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nevins Farm MSPCA, or any Local Hospice Support Program.

Tom, Jay, Debbie and Patti, Mal and Marti. I am so sorry for the loss of your mom and sister. She was a very special woman and I was lucky to have known her both as a mother-in-law and later as a nurse at the pain clinic. I know there are no words to lessen the pain you are feeling right now, but just try to remember the great memories you have and they will help bring a smile to your face.

    Tom, Debbie, Patti & Jay,

I am saddened to hear of Betty’s passing. I was lucky to have met her way back when I was 18 when Tom brought us all to the Wilmington house and she welcomed us all in. Not long after that she became family to me. I was also lucky enough to have her as my nurse a few times at St. Joe’s and she was defiantly my life saver and I was blessed that she was there. She will forever be in all our hearts. I will keep you all in my thoughts and Prayers.
