Eremka, charlesCharles J. Eremka, age 77, of Wilmington, died peacefully, Thursday, December 31, 2009, following a lengthy illness.

Born on March 7, 1932, in Boston, MA, Charles was the dear son of the late John G. & Katerina (Wechnok) Eremka.   Charles was drafted during the Korean War in November of 1952, he served in the U. S. Army, receiving several commendations for his service and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1960.    Charles earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Northeastern University in Boston and went on to continue his education at Merrimack College in Andover. He was a bank officer for many years prior to retiring.

Charles was a giver, always helping others and spending countless hours volunteering with the Salvation Army.   His hobbies included golf, ballroom dancing, and photography.  He was an avid gardener and amateur landscaper.  Charles will also be remembered for being the “organizer” with his family and friends, always planning outings, trips, or just weekend get togethers, Charles loved being with his family and his friends.  He also loved to cruise and travel, which he and his wife Muriel did extensively for many years after his retirement.  Charles’ greatest joy was his family, he adored his wife, daughters, and most of all his granddaughters, as well as his sons-in law and his extended family, he will be greatly missed by all.

Charles was the beloved husband of Muriel C. (Tedford) Eremka, devoted father of Suzanne Colombo & her husband Bruce, and Paula Eremka & her husband Kevin Graf all of Wilmington, loving grandfather of Samantha and Katie Colombo.

Funeral Services will be private.

Memorial donations in Charles’ name may be made to the Salvation Army, Attn: Development/WS, 147 Berkeley St., Boston, MA 02116-5197.

    Sorry to hear of Mr.Eremka’s passing. He was a lovely man. I took care of him in Wilmington during his stay at rehab. I enjoyed chatting with Muriel. I will remember him very fondly.

    Mary and Joe sent an e mail and I want to extend my sympathy in your loss. It was so nice to meet at the ballroom after all those years. Charlie was a wonderful man and from the obituary a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a treasured friend.
