September 19th, 2017

Eugene Duggan “Gene”, age 81, of Belmont, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 18, 2017.

Gene was born on June 20, 1936; he was born, raised, and educated in Wilmington, MA. Gene was the son of the late John and Margaret Duggan and one of fourteen siblings.

Gene married his “sweetheart” Patricia Watters in 1961; the couple resided in Wilmington for many years before moving to New Hampshire in 1979. Gene and Pat were devoted parents to three wonderful children; Skip, Jamie, and Pam. When his children were young, Gene enjoyed taking them camping every weekend with extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Conway, New Hampshire; everyone always had a great time. In later years, Gene also looked forward to traveling and spending his winters in Florida with his wife Pat. Gene and Pat had many great years together before her untimely passing in December of 1995.

Gene worked hard to provide for his family; for many years he was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Magee Construction Company in Andover, MA.

Gene was an active member of the Tewksbury/Wilmington Lodge of Elks in Tewksbury, MA where he had many friends.

Gene’s favorite past-time was following car racing; he loved to travel with his sons and brothers to Pennsylvania and Florida following the car race circuit. The group really enjoyed the competition their cars brought to the races.

Gene will be remembered as a simple guy who loved his family and friends; he always looked forward to visiting his children and grandchildren in North Carolina as well as his family in Massachusetts. Gene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gene was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (Watters)Duggan, devoted father of Eugene “Skip” Duggan, Jr. & his wife Steffany, Jamie Duggan and Pamela Lamontagne, loving “Gramp” of Samantha Duggan, Haley Lamontagne, Nicholas Duggan and Connor Duggan, great-grandfather of Garrett Noel Ferrell and Riley Ferrell, cherished son of the late John “Mike” and Margaret (Howes) Duggan, dear brother of Catherine Reinold, Mary Bammarito, William Duggan, Michael “Mickey” Duggan all of NH, Margaret Melvin of FL, Grace Carroll, Thomas Duggan both of Wilmington, James Duggan, Charles Duggan both of Tewksbury and the late Henry “Hank” Duggan, John Duggan, Francis “PeeWee” Duggan and Joseph Duggan. Gene is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Friday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Gene’s name may be made to Central NH VNA & Hospice, 780 North Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.
