Florence M. Boutwell (Sudsbury) fondly known as “Sister” to her family and friends, age 99, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2018.

Sister was born on March 26, 1919, at home in Wilmington, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Floyd and Margaret Boutwell. Sister was also raised and educated in Wilmington.

She married the “love of her life” Albert Boutwell, Jr. in 1944; the couple raised three children and shared nearly 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1993. Sister was very attentive to her family; she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and an excellent homemaker. Sister treasured the time that she spent with her children and grandchildren; they spent many holidays, special occasions, or just family gatherings at her home which was always filled with love and laughter. Sister enjoyed traveling every summer to Nova Scotia with her husband and children to visit family and they also had many great times camping at their place in Henniker, NH.

In her spare time, Sister, enjoyed crocheting and knitting; she made countless hand made gifts that were shared with family and friends. Sister was also a very talented baker and cake decorator for many years; Sister’s creations were as beautiful as they were delicious and they made every occasion special.

Sister will be remembered as a kind and loving woman; she was quite and gentle in nature but always made others feel welcomed and loved. Sister will forever be in the hearts of her family, friends and those she touched.

Florence was the beloved wife of the late Albert E. Boutwell, Jr., devoted mother of Margaret “Anne” Fisher of Lowell, Mary Lou Govoni of Burlington and the late Albert E. Boutwell III. We are in South Carolina right now and can’t get home in time for the services. Linda and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to you and your family. She was one I looked up to and respected. She always gave me a hug anytime we got together. With a heavy heart I send prayers to all that are effected by her passing. Love you all!

  4. Lori & Beto & Melina says:

Whenever Melina and I would be over her house, as she needed a haircut from Melina, we enjoyed hearing her stories from the past as well as things that happened not to long ago. She always made us smile. It was nice hearing about her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was so appreciative of everything everyone did for her. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She always asked how my husband Beto was. She will be greatly missed, but she is now with our Heavenly Father and I hope my Nan was there to greet her among all the family members who welcomed her to heaven.
You are all in our prayers and we do hope you know she has always told us her life was a good one, and when it was her time to go she was ready. Unfortunately we will be out of the country Thursday
but you are all in our prayers.
