Frances D. (Doucette) Keough

Frances D. (Doucette) Keough, age 95, of Wilmington, passed away on December 11, 2012, at the Winchester Hospital.  Born in Boston on September 14, 1917, Frances was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Frances (Doherty) Doucette.  She was raised in Wakefield, attended Wakefield public schools and was a graduate of Wakefield High School.  Frances loved to swim and canoe in Lake Quannapowitt when she was a child.

Frances was married in 1942 to George E. Keough.  The couple raised 5 children together.  The family moved to Wilmington in 1949 and has remained in town since.

Frances attended the Katherine Gibbs Secretary School and got a job as a secretary at the RCA Company in Burlington.  Frances enjoyed her job and continued to work  until the age of 70.

Upon retiring, Frances became active in several groups in Wilmington.  She was a member of the Wilmington Women’s Club and the Wilmington Arts Council.  Frances loved being a part of these groups and devoted much of her time to them.  Along with volunteering her time,  Frances was also an avid reader.

Frances was the beloved  wife of the late George E. Keough.  She was the loving mother of Lucy Keough of Washington, D.C., Mary Keough of Wilmington, Thomas Keough and his wife Denise of Andover and the late Katrine Keough Hynes and the late Christopher Keough.  She was the cherished grandmother of Johanna Hynes and her husband Robert Barnett, Paul Hynes and his wife Carmela Cadiz, Jessica Brigish and her husband David, Matthew Keough and his wife Erin, Karen Keough and George Keough, great-grandmother of Isaac Barnett and Devon Lowy.  Frances is also pre-deceased by her two sisters; the late Eleanor Nichols and Gertrude Mullaney.

Family and friends are invited  for a visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, December 14th from 6-7 p.m. and on Saturday, December 15th 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon,  followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 12:00 noon.  Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.  Memorial donations in Frances’s name may be made to the Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library, 175 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA 01887.

    What blessings have flowed from Frances Keough’s long life–very much including the dear ones she have life to–down to great grandchildren.
