Frances J. Longo

Frances J. (Gaudreau) Longo, age 78, of Wilmington, formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 8, 2014 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

Frances was born on February 13, 1936 in Malden; she was the cherished daughter of the late Elzear and Anna May (Bouchard) Gaudreau. Frances was raised and educated in Malden.

Frances married David Louis Longo on February 15, 1958 and together the couple shared over 43 years of marriage before his passing in February of 2001. Frances and David raised four wonderful children; Patricia, Lori, David and Linda, they lived in Stoneham for more than 20 years before moving to Wilmington in 1979. Family was most important to Frances, she was not only a devoted wife and mother but she cherished her role as a grandmother; she just loved those kids with all her heart. Frances enjoyed family holidays, celebrations, or any occasion to get her family all together, enjoying every minute she spent with them.

Frances worked as an electronics assembler for Compugraphic in Wilmington for many years; her hard work ethic and her friendly personality made her a favorite amongst her co-workers.

Frances loved to socialize and volunteer at A.I.M. (Access is Mandatory) meetings every Tuesday afternoon. Frances gave much of her time helping others and made countless friends throughout the years.

Frances will be fondly remembered for her love of reading, her beautiful smile, her ability to care for others, and for her zest for life; she was a wonderful lady who will be greatly missed.

Frances was the beloved wife of the late David L. Longo, devoted mother of Patricia Delaney and her significant other Michael Hill of Marlborough, CT, Lorraine “Lori” Dalton of Peabody, David A. Longo & his wife Sandra of Lynn, and Linda Jacobson & her husband Gary of Brookline, NH, loving “Grandma” of Alex and Erik Longo, Rebekka, Catherine and Jenna Jacobson, Gregory Dalton, Kerri Zanatta, and Ryan Maguire, and great-granddaughters Giselle and Aaliyah Zanatta, dear sister of Lauretta Guliano of FL, Beatrice Cornell of St. Charles, IL, Albert Gaudreau of Malden,the late Doris Berardi, Annette Carter, and Joseph “Raymond” Gaudreau. Frances is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA on Thursday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Frances’ name may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA 01867.
