Fred W. Merten

Fred W. Merten, age 81, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Fred was born on May 27, 1939, in Oranienburg, Germany; he was the cherished son of the late Karl and Luise (Friesecke) Merten.

Fred was the beloved husband of Karin (Dall) Merten of Wilmington, devoted father of Sonja Angel of Billerica and Tanya Merten of Haverhill, loving “Papa” of Katelin, Courtney and Ryan Angel.

Funeral Services for Fred will be private at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Wilmington, MA. www.nicholsfuneralhome.com.

    My condolences to the whole family on Uncle Fred’s passing. I was so sorry to hear this sad news. I have so many fond childhood memories of the road trips my family took to visit Boston, and the time spent time with my aunt, uncle and cousins.
