Gerald F. Sullivan

Gerald F. Sullivan, fondly known as “Sully” or the “Irishman”, age 69, of Wilmington, passed away suddenly on January 28, 2019.

Jerry was born on July 25, 1949 in Cambridge, MA; he was the cherished son of the late John and Ruth (Egan) Sullivan. Jerry was raised and educated in Somerville.

Jerry worked for Lechmere in the warehouse for many years. After leaving Lechmere, he went to work at Home Depot in the Customer Service Department.

Jerry met Filomena “Phyllis” (Ventola) Sullivan over 35 years ago. They moved to Wilmington and just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in November. The couple had many wonderful memories together.

Jerry loved to spend time with his friends at Wyman Beach in Westford. He also enjoyed his trips to the casino.

Jerry will be remembered as a kind, caring man. He had a great sense of humor; he was funny and loved to joke with his family and friends.

Jerry was the beloved husband of Filomena “Phyllis” (Ventola) Sullivan, devoted father of Daniel Sullivan & his wife Vicky of Saugus, Edward Bevans & his wife Randy of CT, Erin Sullivan of Concord, NH and Megan Papadopolis of NH, loving “Papa” of many grandchildren, dear brother of George Sullivan & his wife Debbie, Robert Sullivan and Paul Sullivan all of Florida, brother-in-law of Marie Luongo of Boston. Jerry is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, February 2nd from 12:00-2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Jerry’s name may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.

    On July 31, 1949, my 2nd birthday, my parents brought home my new baby brother, Jerry. We had my great times growing up together, frequent movie trips, horseback riding, summers at the lake; it was a good time! We will all miss Jerry tremendously; Rest In Peace little brother.

    I am very sorry to hear this sad news. Jerry was a terrific neighbor for the past 22 years. As the tribute above says, Jerry was a kind and caring man, always quick with a joke and a good story. Whenever he saw us outside the house, he’d come over to “shoot the breeze” – as a good Irishman should! My entire family will miss him terribly. Rest in Peace, Jerry, and our condolences to Phyllis,
