Gertrude E. “Pudge” Cushing, age 77, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 31, 2019 following a courageous battle with cancer at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.

Pudge was born on November 19, 1941 in Wilmington, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Gertrude (Baldwin) Cushing. Pudge grew up in a large and loving family; she was raised on Jones Ave. in Wilmington along with her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who lived in the same neighborhood. Pudge was part of the “Jones Ave. Pole Cats” along with her siblings, cousins and fellow neighbors; everyone had a great time growing up together and countless memories were made throughout the years.

Following graduation, Pudge went to work for American Mutual for two years before taking a position at the Kohler Company in Wellesley, where she worked for thirty-one years and made many life-long friends. At the time of her death, Pudge, was employed as an administrative assistant at Fresenius Medical Care in Waltham where she worked for the last twenty-five years. Pudge was a favorite employee wherever she worked; her knowledge of her job along with her great personality and strong work ethic made her quite successful in her field. Pudge was always there to help her co-workers whether it was to lend a hand or an ear; she truly considered many of them her extended family.

Pudge loved to travel with her family, cousins and friends; throughout the years Pudge along with her friend Charlotte travelled all over the United States visiting forty-eight States.

Pudge continued to love sports throughout her life; she enjoyed watching or attending countless Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots games; always rooting for the “home team”.

Pudge will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and support for her family and friends; she always looked forward to the time they spent together and the many wonderful memories they made through the years.
