Joseph A. Giordano, age 83, of Woburn, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at home in Woburn following a lengthy illness.

Joe was born on December 7, 1927, in Boston, MA, he was the cherished son of the late Calogero and Marie (Salomoni) Giordano, he was raised in East Boston and was educated there.

He married his childhood sweetheart Marie H. Miano and they celebrated over 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2005. Joe and Marie had a wonderful life together, they were very close to their families and in the late 1960’s they moved to Wilmington to be near family.

Joe was a very hard worker, he worked for several companies in his earlier years, and then he took a job at Aurora Imaging Company where he worked as a Custodial Engineer for over 20 years before he retired.

In his spare time, Joe loved to watch sports, especially the Bruins and was known to be an avid puzzle maker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family, never missing a celebration or special occasion. Following the death of Marie and his decline in health, Joe moved to New Horizons at Choate where he made many friends.

Joe will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Joe was the beloved husband of the late Marie (Miano)Giordano, devoted father of Paula Giordano of New Zealand, dear brother of Michael and Vincent Giordano both of California, the late Salvatore, Angelo, and Jean Giordano, brother-in-law of Albert Miano & his wife Mary of Tewksbury Richard Miano & his wife Josephine of Wilmington, Emo Grasso and his late wife Rita, ant the late Tony & Theresa Galante. Joseph is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, March 25th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Thursday, March 24th from 4-8 p.m.
