My Aunt Shirley was a wonderful example of what it means to be a true lady and a loving human being. I remember her infectious smile, always welcoming us and anyone else who happened along the way. She was a hostess with the mostest, providing beautiful spreads to accompany the cheerful, encouraging conversation she would supply, never hesitating to compliment everyone around her and find the best in each one.

We looked forward to trips East to visit her, Uncle Walt and our cousin Sharon every other summer as we grew up. We had wonderful times at the ocean. She came to my sister's wedding in Illinois and visited my parents in Arizona. We corresponded through the mail and in phone conversations until fairly recently. She always looked on the bright side of things, always making us (and everyone around her) feel special and unique. My Dad, her sister, loved her dearly and always spoke very affectionately about her. She truly lived by the Golden Rule. May the Lord who loved her on this earth embrace her lovingly in Heaven. May she rest in peace in His arms.

It was a privilege to know Shirley. She was a delightful guest in our home many times; an excellent conversationalist; interested in all that was going on around her. Her brownies were special, and she shared them with us.

What a classy lady. May she now rest in peace.
