Herbert R. Fubel

September 29th, 2014

Herbert (Herb) R. Fubel of Tewksbury- retired Navy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 28, 2014.

After proudly serving in the US Navy Reserve for 21 years, Herb retired in 1994. For 25 years, he was employed by Department of Defense on Hanscom Air Force Base working on the AWACS program. He was an active member in a number of organizations, including the American Legion Post 294 of Quincy, the American Legion Post 259 of Tewksbury, a Master Mason of the Wamesit Lodge in Tewksbury, and the Disabled American Veterans.

On July 27, 1963 Herb was married to the love of his life, Flora “Elaine” Grenier at the Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park, MA. They shared 51 years of marriage and had four children. Herb is survived by son Richard Fubel of Salem, MA, son Robert Fubel and his wife, Debora of Tewksbury, MA, daughter Michelle (Fubel) Douglass and her husband J.D. of Seattle, WA, and son Joseph Fubel and his wife, Molly of Winchester, MA. Herb now joins his eldest grand daughter Jessica and is survived by his four grandchildren, Caroline, Maggie, Sarah and Myles. Herb was also the cherished son of the late Herbert F. and Grace (Vozzella) Fubel.

Herb could often be found “tinkering” around the house, especially in “the shop” where he would spend hours. When Herb wasn’t tinkering he was enjoying ballroom dancing, gardening, but most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends with a cup of coffee in hand and telling stories.

A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Chapel, 128 West Street, Wilmington, MA on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 12 noon. Your private condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting online guest book. Herb has requested to have his ashes spread among his favorite places.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herbert Fubel’s name to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center @ Lahey Medical Center, 41 Mall Road, Burlington MA 01805.
