Willard “Ralph” Hunt, age 68, of Billerica, formerly of Wilmington, died peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Roxbury, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ralph was born in Winchester, MA, on December 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Radall “Harry” and Myrtle (Abbott) Hunt.

He grew up in Wilmington and was educated there. Ralph enlisted in the United States Army on November 28, 1960 and served the country proudly during the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in November of 1963.

Ralph was a past member of the V. F. W. in Wilmington and was proud American.

Ralph returned to his family in Wilmington and he married the love of his life Lucy Gray in 1968. Ralph and Lucy moved to Billerica in the mid 1970’s and raised two wonderful children. Family was very important to Ralph, he loved his family dearly and would do anything for them.

Ralph worked in construction, he worked for a few companies until he took a job with Murray Brothers many years ago. Ralph loved working for the Murray Brothers and had a great time with the “guys” he worked with, they became his extended family. When Ralph’s illness forced him to stay out of work he missed hanging out with the “guys”.

Ralph was an avid fisherman, he loved the sport and when he wasn’t fishing or cleaning his fishing gear, he would watch various fishing shows on the T.V. Fishing was a passion that Ralph shared with his family and friends.

Ralph also liked to “relax” on the sofa watch the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Golf, or just read his paper, he liked to know what was going on in the world.

Ralph loved life and made the best of every day, he enjoyed the company of his family and his many friends. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and a devoted “Papa” to Andrew and Jason, they were the center of his world. He would do anything for anyone and was a true friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

Ralph was the beloved husband of Lucy (Gray) Hunt, devoted father of Denise M. Sullivan & her husband Kevin of Pembroke, NH and the late David M. Hunt, loving “Papa” of Andrew & Jason Sullivan, dear brother of Randall Hunt of Leominster, Snooky Hunt of Vermont, Raymond Hunt of So. Carolina, Rusty Hunt of New Hampshire, and the late Vivian Bleyle, he is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Family & friends will gather for a Funeral Service on Thursday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Interment with Military Honors will take place in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Visiting hours Wednesday, March 30th from 4-8 p.m.
