Irene A. (Davoli) Fiore

April 9th, 2014

Irene A. (Davoli) Fiore, age 93, of Wilmington, formerly of Medford and Cambridge, died peacefully on April 8, 2014.

Irene was born in Medford, MA, on March 27, 1921; she was the cherished daughter of the late Enrico and Mary (Colla) Davoli.  Irene was raised and educated in South Medford and a graduate of Medford High School with the class of 1939.

Irene married the “love of her life” Francesco “Frank” Fiore in 1951; the couple moved to Cambridge where they lived for more than 50 years.  Irene loved her home in Cambridge, she was an impeccable house keeper, and she loved to entertain her family and friends there.  While living in Cambridge, Irene enjoyed going into Boston, shopping at Jordan Marsh and Filenes, and attending Mass in the Arch Street Church.

Irene’s unconditional love and devotion for her family was always evident.  Irene loved being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, but especially a “Grandma” to her Nicole; she was the light of her life.

In 2003, following her beloved husband’s death, Irene moved to Wilmington with her daughter Paula and her family.

Irene was known to be “well read”, she followed the news, and enjoyed a good Patriot’s game.  She will be fondly remembered for her kindness to others and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Irene was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late Francesco “Frank” Fiore, devoted mother of Paula Barry and her husband Chris, loving “Grandma” Nicole Barry all of Wilmington, cherished daughter of the Enrico and Mary (Colla) Davoli, dear sister of Lorraine Bradley of Medford, the late Beatrice DiGiovanni, Norma Menchi, Henry Davoli, and Marie Romano.  Irene is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, April 14th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Roslindale.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13th from 2-5 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations in Irene’s memory may be made to a Charity of Your Choice.
