James “Jim” Fox

July 8th, 2015

James “Jim” Fox, age 58, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away on July 8, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born on July 22, 1956 in Cambridge, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Isaac and Dorothy (Antonitus) Fox. Jim was raised in Wilmington and attended Wilmington Public Schools until his high school years when he decided to attend Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica. Jim graduated in 1975 and was proud to say that he was part of the first graduating class from “the Tech”.

Jim was always an extremely hard worker; shortly after graduation he started Fox’s Trucking Company. Jim was meticulous with his trucks and spent every day out in the garage working on his equipment when he wasn’t driving. Jim’s work ethic, mechanical abilities, business knowledge, and great personality made his business a success for more than 30 years.

Jim’s love and devotion for his family was evident in everything he did; he enjoyed every moment spent with his family and always looked forward to the next celebration or just “hanging out” with them. Jim was a loving dad to children Chris and Melissa and his “Martha” was not only his partner but also his best friend. Jim was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, and a true friend to many.

When not working hard, Jim loved to play hard; he enjoyed long rides on his motorcycles with his friends, Jim was a huge Harley Davidson fan and had a lot of fun on his bike. Jim also tinkered with hot rods and his other fast cars; always a mechanic at heart.

Jim’s fantastic personality and fun loving nature drew people to him; he made friends wherever he went and everyone who knew him loved him; he was genuinely a nice guy. Jim was a “giver” and always willing to lend a hand to anyone.

Jim’s love for his family and friends kept him going throughout his illness; he fought hard for every day with them, he was “one of a kind” guy who will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim was the beloved companion of Michelle Halligan, devoted father of Chris MacMullen and Melissa Fox all of Wilmington, cherished son of the late Isaac and Dorothy (Antonitus) Fox, dear brother of Donna Fox & Dana Stone of Billerica and Dorothy Maguire of Chelmsford, loving uncle of Michelle Hamilton, Shannon Maguire, Nicole Maguire and Sophia Hamilton all of Billerica. Jim is also survived by his uncle Edward Fox of Framingham and his brother-in-law Leo Maguire of Billerica.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, July 13th at 11:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 12th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Massachusetts, 9 Erie Drive, Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
