Jeanne (LaRivee) Begonis

June 23rd, 2017

Jeanne E. Begonis (LaRivee), age 82, a long-time resident of Wilmington, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 23, 2017.

Jeanne was born in Lynn, MA on August 23,1934; she was the daughter of Rene and Marjorie LaRivee. Jeanne was raised and educated in Lynn until she moved with her family to Wilmington while in High School. Jeanne was very friendly and had a great personality which made it easy for her to fit into her new community. She graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1952.

On April 8, 1956, Jeanne married her “sweetheart” Martin S. Begonis; the couple shared over 32 years of marriage until his untimely passing in 1987. Together Jeanne and Marty raised a wonderful family and always had a houseful of family and friends with their “open door policy”; they always made everyone feel welcomed. Jeanne was a very devoted and loving wife and mother; she showered her family with unconditional love and support. Jeanne looked forward to her role as “Grammie” and she cherished the time and many visits she shared with her grandchildren.

Prior to retiring, Jeanne was an office manager for Sears Roebuck & Company for more than twenty years. Jeanne was very conscientious, hard working, and had great people skills; all traits that made her quite an asset to the company throughout the years.

Jeanne was always on the go and had endless energy; she enjoyed exercising, golfing, bowling, and Thai Chi. She looked forward to going out dancing with her family and friends; especially to the country western dances. In her later years, Jeanne enjoyed her visits to Maine and Rockport and had lots of fun sailing on Spot Pond with Gene.

Jeanne will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady; she was kind and caring towards others and would do anything for anyone. Jeanne had a great smile that would light up a room and she was a lot of fun to be around. Jeanne treasured the time spent with family and friends and she will forever be missed by all who loved her.

Jeanne was the beloved wife of the late Martin S. Begonis, devoted mother of Martin Begonis, Jr. & companion Debi Wasnock of Orwell, VT, Donna Quinn & husband Ted of Auburn, NH, Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis & wife Colleen of Tewksbury and Dianne Begonis of Wilmington. Loving Grammie of Thomas, Tianna, Kerrilee, Daniel, Jennifer, Michael, Christopher and Jack. Cherished daughter of the late Rene and Marjorie (Fleet) LaRivee, dear sister of Robert LaRivee & wife Toni of Wilmington, Elaine Duden & husband Roger of Eden, VT, formerly of Wilmington and the late Rene LaRivee. Sister-in-law of Jeanne Carriglio of Florida. Jeanne is also survived by her long-time companion Gene Rossi of Burlington as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jeanne and I became steadfast friends when her brother and I were married. She and Marty always made plans for the weekends, but I had to make the egg salad sandwiches. That was the deal! We talked on the phone for hours while I was still in Wilmington and even after I moved to Florida. I know how I miss her and your feelings must go deeper. I am so happy she was in my life and I hope you all find peace.
