Jessie A. Hudson-Fanjoy

March 23rd, 2018

Jessie A. Hudson-Fanjoy, age 102, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2018.

Jessie was born on December 31, 1915 in Brighton, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Dr. Arthur S. and Hilda M. (Catherine) Hudson. Jessie was part of a “close knit” family; she was one of five sisters that adored each other and were best of friends throughout their lives. Jessie and her family moved to Wilmington in 1926, where they were raised and educated.

For many years, Jessie, worked as an electronics technician for the Photon Company in Wilmington. Jessie always had a great work ethic and made many friends with her co-workers throughout the years.

Jessie loved being with her family and she was especially close to her nieces, nephews, and their children. Jessie looked forward to taking them away every summer; they always went on an adventure whether it was camping or heading to the beach and everyone had a great time. Jessie loved to travel where she would see new places and meet new people. She especially loved to re-connect and visit her family in Canada as often as she could throughout the years.

In her spare time, Jessie enjoyed bird watching and taking care of her animals. She had a soft heart and fondness for all kinds of animals; Jessie was known to adopt a few over the years and she was truly amazing with them.

Jessie was one of the Charter members of the Sweet Adeline’s Chorus with her sister Hilda. Jessie and Hilda thoroughly enjoyed performing at their many concerts and sharing a special friendship with the other ladies in the group.

Jessie will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady who was fiercely independent; she always drove around to do her own errands and visit with family and friends until she gave up her driver’s license at the atge of 100. She had a big heart and would do anything for anyone; Jessie was truly special and she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jessie was the wife of the late Lex Fanjoy, cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Hilda (Catherine) Hudson, beloved sister of the late Mary Brown, Emma Colgate, Ada Hudson, and Hilda Crescitelli. Loving Aunt of Joe “Buster” Brown, Billy Colgate, Winnie Larson, Arthur Colgate, Mark Colgate, Paul Crescitelli & Kim Hughes, and the late Ellie Colgate. Jessie is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, March 31st from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations in Jessie’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.

  2. Wynn & Carl Larson says:

Fondly remember Jessie (and Hilda) visiting us many times in the varied places we lived. She was a remarkable lady who never seemed to age, always quick of wit, and told us many funny stories about her life. She lived a full life, helping many friends and especially family, living to an age that more than 99.9% of people never see. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, and hopefully she is now with her family reminiscing about bygone years. “Rest in Peace” me lady!!
