Jo Ann McNeil

July 27th, 2016

Jo Ann McNeil (Carroll), a life-long resident of Wilmington, died peacefully on July 26, 2016, following a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.  She was 52 years old.

Jo Ann was born on October 17, 1963 in Lowell, MA. She was the cherished daughter of Grace (Duggan) and the late Kenneth Carroll.  Jo Ann was raised in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1981.

Jo Ann married her best friend, Lance McNeil, on December 3, 1988 and together they raised three beautiful children: Debra, Ryan, and Kathryn.  She loved being a mother and was very proud of her children and their many accomplishments.  Jo Ann looked forward to spending time with her family and their dogs. She enjoyed taking pictures, hiking, and skiing in North Conway.  Jo Ann, Lance, and their three children loved to travel. They took trips across the United States and internationally, and loved every experience.

Jo Ann was very close with both her parents. She enjoyed car rides with her dad, especially the one in which they picked up her wedding dress in her cherished corvette.  She could always count on her mom to be there for her whenever she needed, even in college when they took night classes together.  Jo Ann loved to entertain at her home, for family and friends alike.  She was the ultimate hostess and made everyone feel welcomed.  Jo Ann will be fondly remembered as a wonderful person. She was loving, giving, and kind, and will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jo Ann was the beloved wife of Lance McNeil, devoted mother of Debra, Ryan, and Kathryn McNeil all of Wilmington, cherished daughter of Grace (Duggan) Carroll and the late Kenneth Carroll of Wilmington.  Dear sister of Cheryl Carroll of New Hampshire and Kenneth Carroll and his wife Kathleen of Wilmington. Loving Aunt of Annemarie, Matt, Jim, Pat, Maggie, Amanda, Chris, Stephen, Taylor, and great-niece Sierra. Daughter-in-law of Harvey and Doreen McNeil of Wilmington, sister-in-law of Paul & Sheila McNeil, Cheryl Briere, and Mark & Susan McNeil.  Jo Ann is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
