Joan Marie (Brennick) Lucas

Joan Marie (Brennick) Lucas, age 77, of Waterboro, ME, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully on July 30, 2012.

Joan was born on April 17, 1935, in Somerville, MA, she was the dear daughter of the late  Leo V. and Ruth (Cashman) Brennick.  Joan moved to Wilmington as a young girl and attended Wilmington Public Schools, graduating Wilmington High School with the Class of 1953.

Joan married her “sweetheart” Glen Bradley Lucas on April 14, 1955, together they celebrated over 57 years of marriage, raised five children, enjoyed being grandparents, and made many memories for generations to come.

Prior to retiring, Joan was an Administrative Secretary for the Polaroid Company for many years.

Joan was a woman of great faith, she was a communicant of St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Wilmington for many years and when she moved to Waterboro, Maine sixteen years ago she became involved at St. Matthew’s Parish in Limerick, Maine, where she was a Eucharistic Minister.

Joan was a giver, she volunteered many, many hours for “Habitat for Humanity” and she was a source of great comfort to many patients with her volunteer work for Hospice.

Joan loved spending as much time with her grandchildren as she could, she was the best “Nana” they could ask for.  She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Joan was the beloved wife of Glen B. Lucas, devoted mother of Glen J. Lucas & his wife Barbara of Bridgewater, NH, Mark S. Lucas of Wateroro, ME, Donna M. Keller & her husband Kirk of Methuen, Bradley J. Lucas & his wife Joanne of Wilmington, and Wayne P. Lucas & his wife Jean of Pelham, NH, loving “Nana” of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, dear sister of the late Steven, Leo, Lorraine, and Fran.  Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, August 3rd at 9:00 a..m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.  Visiting hours Thursday, August 2nd from 4-8 p.m.
