Joanne Gedaminsky

Joanne Gedaminsky (Dravinskas), age 86, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Joanne was born on April 13, 1934, in Boston, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Dravinskas. Joanne was raised and educated in South Boston and a graduate of South Boston High School.

In October of 1959, Joanne married her “sweetheart” Peter Gedaminsky; the couple moved to their home on Fairmeadow Road in Wilmington and were welcomed into a wonderful neighborhood where they raised their family. Joanne was very devoted to her family and enjoyed all the fun and memorable times they shared throughout the years. Joanne was a great hostess for her family and friends; she had countless family gatherings, holiday celebrations and pool parties; she enjoyed watching everyone have fun. Joanne’s role as “Grandma Joanne” was not one she took lightly; she adored her grandchildren, looked forward to spending time with them and had a special place in her heart that only they could fill.

In her spare time, Joanne, enjoyed reading, trips to Foxwoods with her friends and her Friday night dinners with her neighbors and friends; such fun times were had by all.

Prior to retiring, Joanne, worked in the Accounts Payable Department at Compugraphic in Wilmington for many years where she made many long-time friends. Joanne also was a receptionist at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus for several years. Joanne was a natural when it came to working with the patients and their families; her kind demeanor, helpful and pleasant personality always put them at ease.

Joanne will be fondly remembered as a special lady; she was sweet, kind and caring towards others. Joanne loved her family and friends with all her heart and she will forever be missed.

Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Peter Gedaminsky, devoted mother of Irene Benson & her husband Eric of Tewksbury, William Gedaminsky of Litchfield, NH, Jeanne Magee & her husband Jim of Wilmington and Thomas Gedaminsky & his wife Janice of Marlborough. Loving “Grandma Joanne” of Katelyn & Sarah Benson, Patrick & Alex Gedaminsky, Kayla & Jim Magee and Andrew Gedaminsky. Cherished daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Budrunas) Dravinskas, dear sister of the late Genevieve Dravinskas, Valeria “Lou” Lescinskas, Sally Cournoyer and Peter Dravinskas. Joanne is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, February 27th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA, at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joanne’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children – Boston, Attn: Development Office, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

    It was my pleasure to work with Joanne at Compugraphic for many years. Not in the same department but my job brought me into Joanne’s department at least once a week. She was a lovely woman. Also we would see each other at St. Dorothy’s often and I would see her at the reception desk at the hospital. May you rest in peace, Joanne. You surely will be missed.

    Please accept our deepest Sympathies. Joanne was an exceptional person. For 30 Plus Years of conversations and parties and meals. She loved everyone she came in contact with. She was always concerned and asked how everyone was doing.
