John J. Foresteire

John Joseph Foresteire, age 84, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly on January 3, 2015, at the family home.

John “Jack” was born in Medford, MA on September 22, 1930; he was the dear son of the late Frederick and Mary (Ahearn) Foresteire. Jack was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. Jack went on to further his education at the Bryant & Stratton Junior College in Boston earning a degree in business.

On February 27, 1952; Jack was inducted into the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his tour of duty overseas; Jack was honorably discharged and returned home to his family in Medford.

In 1959, Jack married the love of his life, Joan T. Paquet. The couple lived in Medford for several years before moving to Wilmington in 1965 where they raised their three children; Debra, John, and Michael. Jack and Joan were happily married for 55 years.

Jack worked as a shipper for the Omaha Packing Company in Boston until an accident left him disabled and forced his retirement.

Following retirement, Jack stayed home to care for his family; they were his world and the driving force that kept him going. Jack’s unconditional love and support for his family was evident in everything he did.

Over the years, Jack enjoyed cooking, fishing, painting, collecting stamps and coins, and attending school and sporting events for his children and grandchildren. Jack was also an active member of the Sons of Italy in Wilmington MA.

Jack will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, devoted dad, loving “Pappy”, a great son, brother, uncle, and a dear friend. Jack was very kind and caring towards everyone and he will be greatly missed.

Jack was the beloved husband of 55 years to Joan T. (Paquet) Foresteire, devoted father of Debra Saulnier & her husband Richard of Londonderry, NH, John J. Foresteire II of Tewksbury, and Michael A. Foresteire & his wife Maria of Pelham, NH, loving “Pappy” of Emily and Richard Saulnier, Samantha, Christina, and Michael Foresteire II, cherished son of the late Frederick and Mary (Ahearn) Foresteire, dear brother of Fred Foresteire of Medford, Margaret DeNapoli of Malden, the late Marie Greene of Bellingham, Phillip Foresteire of Florida, and Robert Foresteire of Salem. Jack is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, January 7th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in his name may be made to a Charity of Your Choice.

    Aunt Joan, Debbie, Jack, & Mike and all of your families, Robin and myself are truly sorry for your loss. It been such a long , long time since I’ve talked with you guys but I do remember the days that Cheryl, Joe and myself would go over house and go in your pool and your dad would always joke with us . I am sorry my kids never got to meet him. Again I am sorry.
