John E. “Jack” Moran, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on December 4, 2019, in Wilmington, MA, at the age of 61 after battling brain cancer.
Jack is survived by his wife Marlene (Blonigen) Moran, his daughter Jaclyn McGowan and her husband James and his son Dean Moran all of Wilmington; his parents John and Janet of Wilmington; siblings Patricia Murphy of Reading, Tim Moran and his wife Leslie and Nancy O’Keefe and her husband Paul all of Tewksbury. Jack was also a beloved son-in-law to Margaret “Penny and Silverius “Sil” Blonigen of Wilmington; brother-in-law of Robert “Bob” Blonigen and his wife Brenda of Newington, NH, Veronica “Bonnie” DiOrio and her husband Chris of Wilmington, Diane Consigli and her husband David of Medway, Elaine MacKinnon and her husband Dan of Wilmington and Gary Blonigen and his wife Melanie of Wilmington. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews who he enjoyed spending time with immensely and lots of good friends.
Jack was born on June 2, 1958, in Somerville, MA to John and Janet Moran. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1976 and was and all-star running back on the football team. After graduating from high school, Jack began his own company with his life-long friends Richard “Rick” Fudge and Peter Sbano of Wilmington, but eventually ended up working as an engineer at Analog Devices in Wilmington where he worked for 29 years.
He married the love of his life, Marlene (Blonigen) Moran on October 5, 1985. In 1989 Marlene and Jack purchased their forever home in Wilmington where the couple welcomed their two children Jaclyn and Dean. His children remember him as a loving, devoted father who never missed a practice, game, or school event and always had time to play catch or go for a walk in the woods with the family’s beloved dog, Prince.
Some of Jack’s favorite past times included golfing with his brother, father and son, watching college football with his wife, vacationing and spending time with his children, walking with his dog, vacationing with his wife and friends, and drinking bud lights with friends and family. Jack was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 8th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Family and friends will gather at the Funeral Home on Monday, December 9th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of John may be made to support the Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. Checks may be made out to Massachusetts General Hospital, c/o Heidi Bergmeyer MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114 with “In Memory of John Moran” in the memo.
The family would like to thank Jack’s caregivers, hospital staff, and doctors for their efforts, care, dedication and kindness towards Jack and our family.

Jack always the happy camper and fun to be around. Always there to help and support others. A terrific golfer who enjoyed the game, every swing good or bad. A guys guy who enjoyed a bud light or two, add a campfire and he could sway all night. We will all miss Jack but keep him in our thoughts and stories forever. Faith and family will keep you strong.
